2008 Bentley Brooklands Preview
by Auto123.com
The Brooklands is back once again, inspired by the racetrack of the same name that the Bentley Boys triumphed on in the 1920's. This time around, Bentley's new grand touring coupe will be produced in only 550 examples. Its beautiful flowing lines are a tribute to Bentley's legendary coach-building abilities. Of the Brooklands' many aesthetic features, the 'floating' rear window which sits well above the upper edge of the trunk lid and provides a flowing, flawless line towards the rear of the car is remarkably special.

Under the hood is Bentley's most powerful Crewe-built engine ever. The familiar 6.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces a melodious 530 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque endowing the big Bentley Coupe with near supercar acceleration times.

As usual, the company will hand-build the four-passenger Brooklands, and the coupe will feature a lavish hand-crafted cockpit filled with wood veneers and sumptuous leather. The interior styling is made to echo the exterior's sleek design. The new Brooklands is just about 10% wider than the previous Continental R coupe allowing for one of the largest cabins of any 2-door coupe on sale today.
